Match Report: Resounding home win over UD Benigànim (5-0)
VCF Mestalla hosted UD Benigànim on Friday, October 8th at 6 pm kick-off time at the Antonio Puchades on Matchday 6 in group VI of Tercera RFEF with a 5-0 scoreline.
The game was decided in the second half thanks to goals from Hugo González, with Diego López and Alberto Marí at the double as VCF Mestalla stay unbeaten with a full set of home wins.
The game also provided the opportunity to see other players returning from injury back in action like Diego López, Burlamaqui or Abel Ruiz.
VCF Mestalla came out gunning for the win right from the off. Rubén Iranzo enjoyed a clear-cut chance in the opening minute which forced Enric into a full stretch save.
VCF Mestalla penned the la Vall d’Albaida side inside their own area which forced another save at full stretch out of Enric to turn away a Bashiru. M effort following a Gozálbez ball recovery.
After the initial momentum the contest evened out, albeit chances kept on coming for VCF Mestalla through three free kick efforts- from Fran Pérez and Hugo González which forced the UD Benigànim keeper into a double save and later on a Bashiru . M effort right in the heart of the area which went off target.
The first half finished goalless with nothing to separate the sides at half time and all to play for in the second.
The same script followed in the second half. VCF Mestalla enjoyed a foray forward which was finished off by Hugo González with an effort from outside the 18 yard box which was turned behind for a corner kick.
The siege continued with successive corner kicks and dangerous crosses into box from the right wing especially one which rolled across the goal line.
Miguel Ángel Angulo shuffled his pack bringing on Alberto Marí and Diego López who made an instant impact within minutes after coming on. The Asturian forward pounced on a great Adri Gómez assist to mark his return from injury with a goal.
After the opening goal VCF Mestalla moved the ball around comfortably looking to open up the opposition defence and the second goal came from a similar piece of play, Adri Gómez threaded a through ball into Hugo González who slotted it home past Enric.
Minutes later, Alberto Marí added a third following a corner kick. Goals galore as VCF Mestalla kept on pushing for more. Alberto Marí made it four after finishing off a counter-attack led by Jesús Vázquez and Diego López capitalised on a mistake from the goalkeeper to stab home into an empty net and round off the scoreline.
